Octavina Since 1997, an integral part of Kababayang Pilipino’s presentations are its live musical accompaniment. The group boasts a dynamic ensemble of talented musicians dedicated to keeping Filipino music traditions alive. From the haunting beats of the gangsa (flat bronze gongs) heard in the mountains of northern Luzon, to the kulintang, gandingan, agong and dabakan, featured in the dances of Mindanao, to the melodic straings of the rondalla or flucked string orchestra consisting of the banduria, the laud, the octavina, the guitara and the bajao (bass), the sounds of KP remain as one of the highlights of any of KP’s performances.
